Statement from Guildford City Football Club

“With effect from this morning Dean Thomas has resigned his position as the first team manager at Guildford City Football Club. The Committee has always acknowledged that Dean was handed a difficult task operating at a senior level on non-league football with very limited funds. Despite gradual improvement in performances however the team has lost their last ten matches. Understandably therefore Dean feels that at this time he is unable to take the club any farther forward.

The Committee asked Dean to re-consider his decision for 36 hours, but this morning he confirmed his wish to resign. Dean has been popular with players, fans and the committee and he has worked tirelessly on behalf of the club since his appointment in the close season. Guildford City Football Club would like to thank Dean and his staff for their considerable efforts, and also wish them all good fortune for the future.

Our immediate priority is our match against Cinderford Town at the Spectrum tomorrow afternoon, and a separate announcement will be made this afternoon.”
