Sandhurst Town 1 – 1 Guildford City

City snatched a point from this match with a late header from captain Simon Cooper.
In truth City were second best for the second half, and were perhaps suffering a bit of hangover from the previous Saturday’s win at Egham. Despite making a strong start, Sandhurst (who had won all of their league matches going into this fixture) pegged the visitors back and had the majority of the chances.  A number of pacey counter attacks caused problems at the back, with Simon Cooper and Jamie Thoroughgood coming to the rescue at the last minute on a number of occasions.

Louis Hibbert’s goal soon after the break put the hosts in to the lead, but Simon Cooper, amongst a crowd of players, got his head to a freekick in the 85th minute to level the scores.
It is an encouraging sign that Guildford City are able to pick up a point away at an obviously strong side, even when not at the top of our game.
