LAUNCH OF THE GUILDFORD CITY ACADEMY

We are delighted to announce the formation of the Guildford City FC Academy, our new age 16-18 football college programme, in corporation with Knights Training Academy.

The programme will be launched in September 2022, with the first open day & trial for prospective new players this December. Once accepted onto the programme, new players will be given the opportunity to train on a regular basis, whilst also studying from a Department of Education approved curriculum. All match days will be taking place on the first team pitch at the Spectrum Stadium, with the squad taking part in the FA Youth Alliance League.

Guildford City CEO Brian Bloomfield said “The launch of the Guildford City Academy is part of the restructure and evolution of the Football Club. It is a tangible activity in taking the club forward, and it adds hugely to what the Club can offer the community as we go forward.”

Kevin Knights, Director of Knights Training Academy, added; “Knights Training Academy who have established a number of successful football academies in the UK and have gained an outstanding reputation for excellence and success. We are proud to team up with Guildford City in the launch of their academy at a very exciting and transitional time for the club.”

Working with a range of professional club, Knights Training Academy deliver the combined full-time study programme whilst developing and nurturing footballing talent through UEFA qualified coaches and programmes based at the clubs.

Students attend the Academy daily to train and to undertake a 2 year BTEC Level 3 certificate in sports. The course covers a range of sports related units including: anatomy and physiology; assessing risk in sport; fitness testing for sport and exercise; sports nutrition and leadership.
