Guildford City 2 – 0 Wembley

Under thick black clouds and on a very heavy Spectrum pitch both teams found it hard to produce an entertaining game of football. City never really got into their stride and by the end of the game were extremely relieved to have secured the three points.Chances were few and far between throughout the match with City’s moment coming in the 25th minute when Jack Guilford continued his rich vein of form in front of goal to put the home side in front from close range. This despite Jack having started despite feeling unwell and then having to be substituted shortly after his goal.

Wembley’s best chance of the game came shortly before half-time with an overhead kick from a visiting forward being acrobatically tipped over the crossbar by Antony Hall.

The second half was, to be perfectly honest, tedious from a fans point of view. The only major incident of note leading to the visiting keeper’s dismissal and City’s second and clinching goal. Sub Lance Banton-Brown being brought down on the edge of the area and despite the assistant flagging for a corner only, the ref deciding that the keeper had got the man and not the ball. Tommy Tydeman finising from the spot.
