Guildford started strongly with half chances falling to Moody, Camara and Gibbs early on. Epsom & Ewell came more into it as the game wore on and won a penalty when Jamie Thoroughgood was adjudged to have brought down an EE’s forward when he was last man – for which he was given a straight red. EE’s scored from the resultant penalty. After a spell of sustained pressure Guildford started to wrest control of the game back from their hosts and it was no surprise when they hit an equaliser courtesy of Simon Cooper. Before half-time EE’s were also down to 10 men after a spot of hand-bags near the half-way line.
The second half belonged to Guildford. Ben Camara put City in front soon after the restart, quickly followed by a third from Dan Moody. Epsom did come close to getting on the scoresheet with an excellent shot from 20 yards which was superbly pushed away by Antony Hall.
EE’s had their second player dismissed before Camara and Moody were replaced by Greaves and Hughes. Both replacement’s proved more than a handful for a short handed Epsom & Ewell and after some good work by both players Greaves hit the fourth and fifth of the evening to seal an excellent win for Guildford City.
