City Launch Under 23’s Squad

For next season Guildford City Football Club is pleased to announce the exciting introduction of an Under 23 Development squad.  Playing in the Combined Counties League U23 Division, this will be an entirely new venture for the Spectrum based club.

Guildford City U18’s currently play in the Allied Counties League, and the aim in conjunction with our friends at Guildford City Boys & Girls FC, is to provide a suitable stepping stone from youth football to Step 5 in the FA’s national pyramid.

Club Secretary Barry Underwood said “This is a big step forward for Guildford City FC. We have talked for some time about a player pathway for local lads, and now we are delighted that together with the Junior Club we are able to move things forward.” Chairman of Guildford City Boys & Girls FC Warren Le Page echoed these views saying “The U23’s is a fantastic opportunity for both clubs to work closely together. We are very excited in creating a player pathway from our junior youth team to the senior side. I would like to thank both committee’s for all of their hard work to make this happen.”

Further news will be announced in due course. In the meantime any player seeking a trial for the U23 side should email info@guildfordcityfc.co.uk giving details of their playing history, and indicating why they would like to be part of this new squad.
