Pre-Season Update & Early Bird Season tickets
The second week of pre-season has drawn to a close with two further sessions at Sutherland Park. Tuesday was more fitness based with local gym Gugafit organising some personal challenges for all of the players present. With the first friendly fixture against Woodley United now just 10 days away, manager Chris Balchin has added a further batch of signings to his 2017-18 squad.
Four of last season’s squad have once again signed on the dotted line in the form of goalkeeper Luke Badiali, versatile defender Tom Booth, young striker Marlon Pinder and former Merrow defender Chris Tancock. Balchin expressed his pleasure at these additions saying “I’m pleased to get these four over the line, They are good players with great attitudes.” Former City player Chad Goulter returns to the club after a spell at Badshot Lea. A new signing to the club is experienced defender Luke Beale who makes the short journey from Westfield where he spent seven years, and was part of the Woking based club’s successful side last season. Beale said “I can’t wait to start the season. It’s an exciting new challenge with Guildford City.” Youth hasn’t been forgotten in the squad and assistant manager Neil Grant ‘s influence can be seen by the signings of three of the successful Leatherhead U21 squad, namely midfielders Louie Downey and Shawn Masterson, and striker Joe Loftus-Cheek.
Guildford previously announced the signings of former SCR trio, new captain Nemo Adams, Miguel Anderson and David Burton. More signings will shortly follow.
