Chessington United 2 – 0 AFC Guildford

The first 45 minutes of this game Chessington were not even at the races and Guildford should have gone in with at least a 2-0 lead.

Tempers were getting frayed especially at some of the inconsistent decisions being made by the referee.

At the interval manager David Joslyn locked the team in the changing rooms and told the team a few home truths.

This seemed to stir Chessington and within five minutes a strong run down the right saw Dave Beasant’s low cross turned into his own net by a Guildford defender. Five minutes later and Beasant left three defenders in his wake and a rasping left foot shot left the goalkeeper clutching at thin air as the ball hit the back of the net.

These two goals settled Chessington down and they were able to contain Guildford to such an extent that substitutes Daniel Martin, David Edwards, and Dave Fry were all given runs.
