Ian Plested caught up with first team manager Pete Ruggles after our 4-2 defeat at home to Tadley Calleva. Both teams came into the game on good form but it quickly turned into a bad day at the office for City who found themselves 3-0 down inside 20 minutes. Tadley were aggressive throughout the game and Ruggles’s side seemed to get caught out but as the half went on City seemed to gain more control of possession without threatening the oppositions goal.
City came out in the second half and once again had the majority of the ball. Charlie Samuel cut in from the left wing and his sliced shot deflected off the Tadley defender for an own goal. The Sweeney looked like they might get the next goal when a cross found substitute Nathaniel Williams at the back post who just couldn’t direct his header into the goal. It was the away side that scored the next goal after the City defenders couldn’t clear the ball and gave the Tadley attacker a clear sight of goal. Billy Murphy scored late on to make the score 4-2 but it was too late to stage a comeback.
