Raynes Park Vale 0 – 1 Guildford City

Guildford City endured a nervy period of second half pressure against Raynes Park Vale, but emerged victorious thanks to a first half goal from in-form Austin Gacheru.  The visitors created a number of good chances early on, but had to wait until the 32nd minute for the breakthrough.  Ben Rayner’s pass was controlled smartly by Gacheru before he neatly slotted home at the far post.  Dan Moody’s shot was then flicked on to the post by Dean Cupit in the Raynes Park goal.  In the second half City were less assured and the hosts should have levelled the scores through a series of good chances.  In the end, City held on to take the three points and even created two chances on the break – firstly Jack Guilford’s opportunistic strike being chalked off for offside before Dan Moody was denied a penalty after a rash defensive challenge late on.
