Guildford City is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Ruggles as Men’s First Team Manager.
Ruggles joins Guildford City with immediate effect after a seven year spell at combined counties side Sheerwater FC. During his reign he took the Surrey based side from the bottom of division one to the top half of the premier division, winning the division one title in the process.
Barry Underwood, Club Secretary, said: “We are really excited to announce Pete Ruggles as our new first team manager. We have long been impressed at Pete’s achievements at Sheerwater, especially with the limited resources available to him. After a difficult season we are looking to reset and make progress under our new management team next season.”
Pete Ruggles said: “I’m very excited at joining Guildford City. I have had an enjoyable seven year spell as manager of Sheerwater, helping them survive relegation and then going onto to win a league title and breaking many records on the way. The reason to move on and come to Guildford City was because of the ambition of the club. That reason should tell you what we are looking to achieve moving forward here. We want to get this football club pushing in the correct direction in the league first and foremost. Since being relegated some years ago Guildford has for the most part finished in the bottom half of the division. We will aim to change those fortunes come next season, and we hope to build a side that can win football matches and get Guildford City pushing towards the higher ends of the league table.”
