Mole Valley SCR 2 – 2 Guildford City

Another hot July evening in Carshalton Beeches is where Guildford City played their 3rd preseason friendly so far at Mole Valley SCR. Mole Valley started more positively and put the ball into the net early, but was ruled out for offside. Goalkeeper Will Dukes did well to push a Mole Valley attack wide for a goal kick. City then took the lead from a good pass from midfield to Nathan Davis on the right wing to create a great cross for Andrew Dalhouse to tower in the box to header past the Mole Valley keeper to make it 1-0 to City and that’s how the first half finished.

The 2nd half started positively for City and Ben Walshie crossed a good free kick into the box which was headed over the bar, but Mole Valley came back into it with a free kick outside the box (centre) which was curled to Dukes left to level the scores at 1-1. Minutes later Mole Valley won a corner on the right hand side and City failed to clear and Mole Valley poked in on the left side to make it 2-1. City worked hard to get back on level terms and after a challenge in the box on the right hand side after good run. Andrew Dalhouse stepped up to take the penalty and scored in the bottom left corner to make 2-2. That is how it ended, another entertaining game on a very difficult pitch with barely visible white lines on another warm evening.           Report by Ian Plested
