As vice President of Guildford City Football Club and a long time supporter it was my pleasure to be present at the Farmers’ Market on Tuesday of this week. It was a lovely spring day and many people were enjoying the stalls. A good many browsing people stopped at the City stall and had interesting things to say. Memories from many were of “old City” names from the late 50’s and early 60’s. Players mentioned in conversations included David Barrett, Peter Vasper and the always popular Tony Burge. One Brentford supporter remembered the famous FA Cup tie between the two clubs which went to three games (the first abandoned because of fog) with finally a Guildford victory. Three election candidates also came by and spoke and offered support to the Club. Several of the people we spoke to promised to come and watch a game. Thank you also to first team manager Don Chislett for finding the time to pop down to the market and show his support.
