An entertaining game was left honours even at Tempest road with City losing their 100% league winning run from the start of the season. Egham, despite being without several first choice defenders, put in a hard working defensive display to frustrate another all out attacking display from Kevin Rayner’s men. A whole raft of excellent goal scoring chances were spurned over the 90 minutes with only Dan Moody’s well struck shot in the 29th minute being the sides reward. Egham’s Dale Marvell replying within 60 seconds to equalise.
In the 30 minutes prior to Moody’s goal Guildford saw good chances come and go via Gachru, Chaplin and Camara. A mixture of excellent and desperate defending plus a sound display from goalkeeper Paul Borg kept Egham in the game.
The second half saw the hosts come much more into the game, carving out several chances for themselves as their confidence grew. The pick of the bunch was an Egham forward beating the off-side trap and racing clear with only Antony Hall to beat. However an excellently timed dive and save at the forwards feet saved the day for City.
However, even with Egham much more in the game, City still spurned numerous chances to win the game, with Camara, Cooper, Rayner and Gacheru all going close before the full time whistle.
