Colliers Wood United 2 – 4 Guildford City

Joel Greaves was a two-goal star as Guildford made a flying start to the new season.
The summer signing  – back for a second spell at the City – netted twice in Friday night’s fine victory at Wibbandune.
It gave Kevin Rayner’s City the first points for any club this season, the match kicking off a day before everyone else.
Rayner said, “Colliers Wood had a Friday game last season and it went well and were keen to make the most of it.”
He added, “From our point of view it went well. The game against Godalming the previous Tuesday had taken a bit out of us but we played well in patches and I was well pleased to get the points and get up and running”.
Greaves and fellow new-boy Joel Hughes proved a handful up front but Rayner warned better is yet to come in the shape of his third summer arrival. Ben Camara. The former Torquay pro is awaiting international clearance and Rayner said: “I can’t wait to get Ben cleared because I think he’s the best of the bunch.”
Greaves and Jaydon Gibbs – twin brother of Arsenal’s Kieran, who was called into Fabio Capello’s England squad for this week’s friendly against Hungary – had put City 2-0 up before United replied.
A second from Greaves and Hughe’s strike made it 4-1 with the hosts adding a second in stoppage time.
