With Guildford City and Godalming Town now playing their football a level apart, meetings of the two sides in competitive derby clashes have become unusual. However the luck of the draw did bring both sides together last November in the Surrey Senior Cup; a match that Godalming won by a single goal in front of a bumper crowd of 296. The good news is that it might only be pre-season but the derby fixture returns on Wednesday 20 July and to add spice to the event City and Town will be playing for a cup kindly donated by match sponsors Axtell. Godalming Town are likely to feature crowd favourites like Darren Wheeler and Graeme Purdy, whilst the City side has been rebuilt over the summer and will feature a large number of new faces. An exciting game is in prospect and support for the lads in red, white and black would be very much appreciated.
Kick-off at Wey Court is 7.45pm and admission is £5 for adults, £3 concession and £1 Under 16.
