Guildford City Welcome Stuart Searle

Guildford-City-Football-Club-Calor-League-Action-Photo-8With the start of pre-season training looming in less than two weeks, Guildford City manager Don Chislett is delighted to announce the addition of Stuart Searle to his management team.

Searle, aged 36, hung up his goalkeeping gloves at the end of last season after being ever present in the Met Police FC’s run to the Ryman League Premier Division play-off final. Vastly experienced, his former clubs include Aldershot Town, Carshalton Athletic, Basingstoke Town, Watford (where he played under Brendan Rogers), Milton Keynes Dons and Chelmsford City.

Searle will join Mark Beach as assistant manager, and he will combine the role at Guildford City with his Youth Manager’s job at Met Police FC. As well as his coaching abilities, his football experience and contacts within the game make him an excellent addition to the club. Don Chislett commented “I’m delighted to have someone of Stuart’s calibre join Mark and I at Guildford City. His high-level playing and coaching experience aside, he is a good friend of mine and I’m really looking forward to working with him again this season”.

Meanwhile, and at his own request, Phil Bowers has stepped down from his first team role in order to take on a new Director of Football role with Guildford City Boys & Girls Club. However Phil, who is considered to be “Mr Guildford City” for his commitment to the club over many years, will still have close links to the first team set up. Referring to Phil, Don Chislett said “I’d also like to thank Phil Bowers once again for all his support last season. He’s determined to strengthen our junior section and I have no doubt that he’ll succeed.”
