Guildford City are in FA Vase action this Saturday when they travel to The Sportsfield, St Flora’s Road to face Sussex County League frontrunners Littlehampton Town (kick-off 3pm). Online bookmakers make City heavy outsiders for the tie, but Guildford manager Kevin Rayner says that the team will travel with confidence following their excellent 3-2 win at Molesey last weekend. The manager reports that there are no injury problems, save for Jordan Taylor’s longstanding knee problem, and that he should have a full squad to select from.
Littlehampton Town currently sit at the top of the Sussex League with 31 points from 13 matches. Goals haven’t been in short supply for the “The Marigolds” in recent weeks with a 6-1 away victory at Crawley Down Gatwick, and a home 5-1 win over Ringmer last Saturday.
Word is that Guildford City will be backed at the match by a larger than average Sweeney away following, and if any City fans are considering attending I can confirm that your support for the lads would be much appreciated. The Sweeney were in full voice at Molesey last week and post-match the players acknowledged their appreciation for such terrific support.
Should the scores be level at 90 minutes then 30 minutes extra-time will be played. Should the scores still be level after extra-time then the sides will re-adjourn at the Spectrum on Wednesday evening, kick-off at 7.45pm.
