City won their first away game, & ended an 11 match losing streak, as well as keeping their first clean sheet of the season.

1500hrs Saturday 1st March 2014 at the Spectrum.
Big game this weekend, against fellow strugglers Bishop’s Cleeve at the Spectrum. This truly is a 6 pointer, City really need to close the gap on the teams closest to them in the relegation battle and as Bishop’s Cleeve currently sit third from bottom, 7 points ahead .

Earlier in the season, City travelled to Bishop’s Cleeve & a Lance Banton-Brown brace secured all three points in a mid-week clash, that left the home team feeling as though they had been mugged. The City team on the day had a cobbled together feel as a number of players were unavailable because of work commitments & there were only two players on the substitutes bench.

Fielding a side that consisted of a number of young players with little experience of football at this level, and some very experienced players who had returned to the City fold with returning manager Kevin Rayner the result was as unexpected as it was pleasant.

The Guildford Players & the few travelling fans were elated by the result, & still believe that City will survive the drop. For the  match report on the last game between Bishops Cleeve & City click here

Anyway, Bishop’s Cleeve come to the Spectrum on the back of 5 losses, 1 draw & 1 win & three postponements, so they are probably craving some time on the pitch, much like City.

The Sweeney really need to be in good voice for this match, let’s hope that they can become the twelfth man and create a great atmosphere for the City players.

Come on City!!
