On Saturday Guildford City make the short journey to Calthorpe Park to face Fleet Town in what for both clubs is a crucial encounter. Kevin Rayner and his City players are looking to follow up last Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Clevedon with another three points that will allow them to further narrow the gap to Bishops Cleeve who sit in 20th place.
By the same token Fleet Town, who currently sit at the foot of the table with just one victory this season, come into this weeks game off the back of an excellent morale boosting 2-2 draw at championship chasing Cirencester Town. Both sides therefore will be looking to put one over on their local rivals.
The Fleet Town side will likely include Pat Cox who rejoined Fleet from Guildford at the beginning of December. In addition to Cox, Tom Mudge and Aaron Bufton who featured for City earlier this season will likely be in the Fleet matchday squad. Meanwhile for City, former Ireland U’21 international Darren Stapleton returns after a two match suspension. He joins new signings Tom Williams and Andy White in the squad. Lance Banton-Brown also returns after missing a number of games with work commitments.
This is a vital match in Guildford’s season and it is hoped that a large number of City fans will make the short journey to support the lads.
