Chris Lucas completed his run from Guildford to Dorking in three hours, despite getting lost and adding four miles to his route! Setting off from Spectrum at 8:30am on Bank Holiday Monday, Chris took a wrong turn and ended up on the outskirts of Leatherhead before heading south into Dorking, arriving at the Meadowbank ground just in time for the 11:30 kick-off.
Committee member Chris set off in a pink wig and a Guildford City shirt and ended up raising over £200 – for which the club would like to thank him as well as all those that donated towards the cause. It had been a long day for the Italian-based neuroscience student, who started the day at his home in Grantham, Lincolnshire. He was rewarded with a refreshing pint in the Dorking clubhouse before resting his legs as City dominated the Chicks 5-0.
Chris completed his 16 mile route at an average speed of around 5.4 mph, and received plenty of attention from passing cars on the way. The club has offered to buy him a map if he wishes to do a similar run in future!
