It’s been a while since we looked at how our partner clubs are doing, and with the Landesliga Südbaden now in it’s winter break, it’s a good time to see how Freiburger are getting on after a shaky start to the season. FFC’s run in to the winter break could barely have been better – unbeaten in two months with seven victories and two draws in the league. They now sit just three points behind leaders SC Whyl (the last side to beat Freiburger) and can look forward to pushing on in the second half of the season. Their most recent match, a 4-1 win over SV Heimbach, was won by three second half goals and coach Ralf Eckert complimented his side for coming back in to the match after a poor opening half hour. Like us, FFC are also doing work to their ground entrances, having been donated a wooden shelter by a local company to keep their gateperson dry!
Meanwhile, the Faroese side HB are still in their close season after a disappointing league campaign earlier this year. They have announced that Jákup Slættalíð and youngster Magnus Egilsson have signed one year contracts. Exciting news comes with the capture of Christian Mouritsen, a regular in the Faroe Islands national team, who has returned to the islands after a spell in Iceland (via a trial at Tranmere Rovers).
