Guildford City 1 – 2 Clevedon Town

Guildford City’s FA Cup dream ended with this narrow defeat to Zamaretto side Clevedon Town.
The Surrey side, who had progressed to this stage for the first time since reforming in 1996, had beaten Ryman Premier side Tonbridge Angels in the previous round.
However they quickly found themselves a goal behind when George Brimson fortunately beat the offside trap to fire home from the edge if the box in the eighth minute.
City were not content to roll over and had dominated the next twenty minutes, with Cooper going close and Camara shooting into the grateful arms of Clevedon stopper Mellor.

The Somerset side started the second half strongly and extended the lead almost immediately after the break with Matt Thorne taking advantage of some poor defending.
Guildford rallied with Penson going close before Simon Cooper rose to pull one back with a bullet header in the 72nd minute.
City’s chances of a comeback looked better when Jack Durrant was sent off for a petulant kick of the ball a few minutes later.
Clevedon limited the home side to half chances as City threw men forward in search of a dramatic equaliser. However it was not to be as the well organised Clevedon back line soaked up the pressure for the remainder if the game.
